Correction: No staff recommendation to ZBA

March 25, 2015 By:Anne Marie Kilday

Local News

The West University Place Zoning Board of Adjustment will meet Thursday at 6:30 p.m. to consider two applications from West University Baptist Church relating to the church’s plan to build a new Youth Center.

The ZBA is scheduled to conduct public hearings as well as “possible deliberations and decisions” on the church’s applications for special exceptions for property at 3826 Milton Street, and 3821 and 3831 Amherst Street.

West U Instant News incorrectly reported earlier this week that the city staff had recommended approval of both special exceptions. The city staff does NOT make recommendations to the Zoning Board of Adjustment.

We regret the error.

A Powerpoint presentation from the WUBC supported the granting of special exceptions that would allow the church to build a new Youth Center at 3826 Milton Street, and a second exception that would allow the church to build a new parking lot in the 3800 block of Amherst.

The city staff did not make any recommendations to the Zoning Board of Adjustment.

Staff would not make their recommendations public. It looks like this City Manager, Mayor and Council are bound and determined to rush this thing through. The fix was on from the beginning, and for those who believe that the random survey results were representative of the opinions and wishes of West U taxpayers, they may sell you a bridge over San Francisco Bay before their tenure is up.
