Crime Reports

A West University woman was robbed at gunpoint in her garage in the 6300 block of Westchester Avenue Tuesday night, police said.

Officers responded to the call, near University Boulevard, at 10:43 p.m. The woman told them a man approached her with a small silver pistol as she exited her vehicle in her garage, took her cellphone, and then ran toward an older four-door sedan that was waiting.

He jumped into the passenger side, and the vehicle sped south on Westchester.

The gunman was described as a slender, black male in his early 20s wearing a gray hoodie.

West U police remind residents to remain alert to their surroundings and to report suspicious vehicles or persons to 713-668-0330 – or to call 911 in an emergency.

Where are the police? Why isn’t any asking for the police to be accountable? Thieves and robbers think West U police is a joke with all the recent break ins.

The library sidewalk has been vandalized. This unsightly display of graffiti must be against the law in our fine community. What is the punishment for graffiti? Firing squad? Expulsion from the Senior Center? It must be more than the punishment for speaking out in public. That punishment is refusal of services including Senior services (No bingo for you!), limited entry into the Community Center, no Recreation, no pool access, and just for the fun of it, when you need special trash pick up, WUP won’t do that either! So, what is the punishment for graffiti? That depends on who you are in this community.

Correction: but a select Senior citizen…

This is not the only crime in WUP. I believe it is a crime that a donation of $500. is made from the Rotary Club for a community breakfast, but select a Senior citizen will be refused participation. This “gift” from the Rotary Club was generously donated and specified as a “community event”. In my career, I volunteered countless hours to the community. I NEVER selected individuals to refused service. As a veteran, it is beyond comprehension, on Veterans Day, that such pettiness exists in this community. Seniors are to be charged for a breakfast with donated money from a service organization! WUP is supposed to provide services to its citizens. That depends….
