A driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated on February 7, after West University Place police received a call about an accident involving a motor vehicle and a tree. Officers went to the 5900 block of Auden, and found that the vehicle had crashed into a light pole.
At 9:41 p.m. on February 8, West U police responded to a residence in the 6400 block of Sewanee about an accident in the 3500 block of Pittsburg. In the cash on Pittsburg, a vehicle did not stop to provide information. A report for an accident, and failure to stop and provide information was generated.
A West U police officer on patrol in the 4200 block of Bissonnet on February 9 observed a vehicle with an expired inspection sticker. The officer stopped the driver in the 4500 block of Fournace, where the driver was arrested for driving while license invalid.
West U police investigated another accident in the 3700 block of Tangley on February 9, where a driver failed to stop and give information after striking another vehicle.
At 11:54 p.m. on February 9, a West U officer noticed a vehicle in the 6700 block of Buffalo Speedway with an expired Alabama registration. The officer made a traffic stop in the 3200 block of Maroneal, where the driver was arrested for driving with an invalid license.
On February 10, A west U officer made with a resident at the police department in reference to an identity theft case. The victim stated that an unknown person(s) made a copy of his business checking account check and cashed it without his consent. After further investigation, a report for forgery was generated.
A second case of forgery was reported the same day. A West U officer was dispatched to the Bank of Texas located at 5000 block of Kirby for a report of a forgery. The reportee/bank teller advised that an unknown suspect, attempted to cash a fraudulent check at this location. The reportee advised that he noticed that the check was suspicious and contacted the West University Place Police Department. The suspect grew suspicious and immediately fled the scene. Officers canvassed the area and were unable to locate the suspect.
On February 11, another driver was arrested for driving with a suspended license in the 6800 block of Buffalo Speedway. The driver was stopped for the offense of driving 41 mph in the 30 mph speed zone, in the 3100 block of Duke. He was transported to the West U JAIL.
At 3 a.m. on February 12, a West U officer observed the driver of a vehicle commit several traffic violations. A traffic stop was conducted, and a search of the vehicle was conducted after receiving consent. Marijuana was located during the search of the vehicle and the driver was subsequently arrested for possession of marijuana. The police report did not indicate where the traffic violations occurred.
On February 12, West U officers were dispatched to the 2600 block of Sunset about a disturbance in progress. Officers arrived in the area and began searching for the suspect. The suspect was located and taken into custody. The suspect was charged with making a terroristic threat.
A West U resident reported a case of identity theft to West U police, after speaking to an officer at the West U police department on February 12.
