ID thefts up in West U

West U police investigated three cases of identity theft, one burglary of a building, and arrested a man for driving with an invalid license this week.
Police also responded to Whole Foods, in the 4000 block of Bellaire, about a repeated criminal trespass violator who was jailed last month in West U for going into the store. The man was arrested September 5, for another violation, and was again jailed in West U.
On Saturday, September 6, a West U resident went to the police department to report a case of identity theft. The complainant advised that a Pay Pal credit account had been opened in his name, by an unknown person.
On Sunday, West U police responded to another ID theft case, which was reported by a resident of the 4200 block of Southwestern. The victim reported fraudulent activity on his credit report.
The third case of identity theft was reported on Tuesday, by a resident of the 2600 block of Sunset.The victim stated an unknown person was using her personal information to file fraudulent charges on her checking account. Information was gathered and a report was generated.
On Wednesday, an officer noticed a vehicle that failed to stop at the stop sign in the 6400 block of West Point. Upon investigation, the officer determined that the driver was driving with a suspended license. The driver was arrested and charged with driving while license invalid.
A building contractor who had just installed an oven in a home under construction in the 5300 block of Community on Friday morning reported to West U police that the oven was stolen. The contractor returned to the house to find the oven missing. West U police filed a report for burglary of a building.
