A West University woman was robbed at gunpoint and struck to the ground outside her home in the 3800 block of Coleridge Street at about 6:15 p.m. Monday, police reported.

They said the victim heard a vehicle approach as she was walking to her front door. A black male in his 20s accosted her with a gun in his right hand, took her purse and keys, and struck her, causing her to fall.

The victim said the man entered the passenger side of the older model black sedan, which backed up westbound on Coleridge toward College Street.

Police were unable to locate the vehicle or any suspects.

Where the heck are the police? Why don’t we install cameras everywhere? West U seems to be a joke for thieves and criminals.

I agree with you Brian. I have seen WUP police at the bicycle shop in the Village, Chicken Kitchen, various breakfast places, etc. ALL outside the City of West University Place! I tried to flag down an officer recently to report an illegal action. My efforts were ignored. The officer continued to drive away. Since the new city officials voted to allow police raises to be determined by the police, instead of what has historically been the job of the mayor and city council, should the police chief be accountable?
