West U Police are investigating the theft of some packages left in front of a residence in the 3000 block of Robinhood on November 28. The complainant called police about the theft at about 11:13 a.m.
Also that day, a West U Police Officer was dispatched to the 6700 block of Weslayan, to investigate a theft. The officers learned that a wallet had been stolen from a woman’s purse. During the investigation, officers learned that the credit cards were being used. The investigation is continuing.
There were no crimes reported on Saturday or Sunday in West U.
On Monday, December 1, a West U police officer observed a vehicle in the 2800 block of Sunset with an expired inspection sticker. The vehicle was pulled over in the 5400 block of Belmont where the driver could not provide the officer with with a driver’s license and gave a false name and date of birth to the officer. The officer determined that the woman had several outstanding arrest warrants, and she was arrested for failing to identify herself. The officer also discovered a controlled substance within the driver’s property, which was not prescribed for her. A second charge of possession of a controlled substance was filed against
Also on Monday, a West U officer met with a resident at the Police Department about a theft. The victim stated that an unknown person had used his debit card information to fraudulently withdraw a large amount of money from his bank account, without his consent.
There were no crimes reported in West U on Tuesday or Wednesday.
On Thursday, a West U officer observed a vehicle in the 5300 block of Buffalo Speedway,
with no brake lights. The officer initiated a traffic stop and was advised by dispatch that the vehicle had been reported stolen in the city of Houston, during an aggravated robbery. The West U officer stopped the driver in the 3200 block of University Blvd, where the driver was taken into custody for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. The vehicle was recovered and impounded.
