West U Police Report

West U police last week investigated one motor vehicle theft and another burglary of a motor vehicle, both in the 3100 block of Lafayette.
At 7:36 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12, police responded to a call from a resident of the 3100 block of Lafayette. The victim stated an unknown person(s) stole his vehicle,
which was parked on his driveway. Information was gathered and a report was generated.
On Thursday, West U police returned to the 3100 block of Lafayette to investigate a burglary of a motor vehicle. Officers discovered that items were taken from the victim’s vehicle. The
vehicle had been left unlocked.
On November 7, a West U officer observed the driver of a vehicle who ran a red light in the
6000 block of Buffalo Speedway. A traffic stop was conducted in the 3200 block of Amherst. The driver showed signs of impairment and, according to the police report, a “drug recognition expert” was contacted. After an evaluation, the police report states: “It is believed that the driver was under the influence of cannabis and a narcotic analgesic. “
At 2:39 a.m. on November 8, a driver was arrested for possession of a controlled substance in the 5800 block of Community. A West U officer observed the vehicle stopped on the street, with its brake lights on and engine running. The officer observed a person in the front driver’s seat slouched forward, who appeared to be sleeping. The occupant was arrested.
Police also arrested three drivers with suspended drivers’ licenses, after officers noticed that their vehicles’ registration had expired.
At 8 p.m. on November 7, an officer observed a vehicle traveling westbound in the 4100 block of Bissonnet with an expired registration. A traffic stop was conducted in the 4300 block of Bissonnet and after further investigation the driver was arrested for the offense of driving while license invalid.
On November 9, officers observed a vehicle not displaying a vehicle registration sticker on its windshield in the 6400 block Buffalo Speedway. Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 5800 block of Buffalo Speedway and upon further investigation; the operator of the vehicle did not have a driver’s license. The operator was arrested.
On November 11, a West U officer observed a vehicle with expired motor vehicle registration in the 2600 block of Rice. The officer made a traffic stop of the vehicle in the 2500 block of Rice. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the driver was driving on a suspended license. The driver was arrested.
At 3:54 a.m. on November 8, a police officer was dispatched to the 3900 block of Bellaire, in reference to a theft, which had already occurred. The complainant stated an unknown person(s) stole money, which was supposed to be dropped in the safety deposit box.
Information was gathered and a report was generated.
On November 12, two West U residents reported cases of identity theft to officers at the West U Police Department. In the first incident, a resident told police that unknown person(s)
used his personal identifying information to file taxes.
In the second incident, a West U resident told police that unknown person(s) had used his credit card information to make fraudulent purchases, and to obtain television services between February, 2012, and October, 2014.
On November 13, West U police officers met with Fort Bend County deputies in Precinct 3, to pick up a subject who had outstanding warrants with the city of West U. Officers took custody of the subject, who was booked into the West U jail.
Two more cases of ID theft were reported to West U police on Friday. In the first incident, a West U resident reported fraudulent activity on his credit card. The second case was very similar, another resident reported that an unknown person(s) had used her credit card information to make several online purchases.
Also on Friday, West U police arrested a solicitor for soliciting in West U without a permit. Police were contacted by a resident of the 4000 block of Marquette about the solicitor, who was arrested in the 4100 block of Bellaire Blvd.
