West University Little League is one of the largest little leagues in the country with approximately 1,300 players.
WULL offers baseball from the Tadpole division (5 years old) up through the Senior division (15 and 16-year olds). Two Senior Division teams have won the Senior Division World Championship held each year in Bangor, Maine, including the 2014 Seniors from West U.
West University Little League was officially organized as its own Little League in 1954.
In the 1990s WULL, along with several other local sports associations, purchased South Campus lands and the fields by Pershing Middle School. This foresight has allowed WULL to continue to grow. WULL expanded by merging with Braes Bayou Little League.
WULL also added the Challenger League, a baseball program for boys and girls ages 5 through 18, (or until the completion of high school) with physical and mental challenges. The most fundamental goal of the Challenger Division is to give everyone a chance to
play baseball and have a rewarding experience, regardless of limitations.
Volunteerism is an essential aspect of WULL. The parents run the organization. All players’ parents are assigned Dugout Duty in the WULL Concession Stand and manage every aspect of the league. The largest fundraiser for WULL is the annual spring auction/dinner.
