At 3:12 pm, an officer observed a passenger vehicle traveling westbound in the 4200 block of Bissonnet with an expired motor vehicle inspection. Once again, with all the money being collected from the Seniors (for using the Rec Center), and for all the money spent on “consultants” for answers to common sense issues, why not supply WUPD with a K-9 officer? As stated previously, dogs cannot be accused of racial profiling.

  2. Says:

West U getting a police dog may qualify as the stupidest suggestion I have ever heard.

  3. Colonial Colonel Says:

Why not a fleet of motorcycle cops, a SWAT team and a tank or two? This is West U, how often do we need a K-9? A few times a year? What a waste of money. Are you actually serious?

  4. Dirty Socks Says:

Milton, I propose a compromise; a dalmatian for the fire house. Preferable an old dog that won’t bite anyone but will look good in pictures.

  5. Says:

What would we do with the police dog 360 days a year when it isn’t needed? It makes more sense to have mounted patrol, at least we could give kids rides during the school carnival.

  6. Tangley Resident Says:

Better get two police dogs, one would get lonely.

  7. Give me Liberty... Says:

I am all for giving the police the tools they need to do their job. In West U that means a 5 year old police car, a gun with one bullet, and a gas credit card to keep the tank filled while they patrol up and down our streets. The do not need stun guns, AK 47’s or K-9’s. If a major disturbance occurs, they need to call HPD, they are trained for those matters. This is Mayberry. We need a police department made up of Barney Fifes who wave to us and give the school kids candy.

  8. John Paul Jones Says:

West u police are fine. But they need to know their limits. They do not need a police dog. That is why they have an agreement with Houston to borrow their K-9 when need be.

  9. LHG Says:

I can’t remember when West U was ever a “Mayberry”. There is no suggestion that West U needs their own police dogs any more than they need their own helicopters. I lived on a corner lot on College many years ago when bank robbers were driving on College through West U with an officer following. When they got to the Weslayan shopping center, they exited their car and one ran into the apartments that were there at the time and the other ran into one of the stores. There were gunshots and then police helicopters were flying over West U looking for another individual. I would guess that a Houston Police Department provided a police dog to find the person who was hiding in one of the apartments. It is necessary that the police share resources. I really wonder about some of the comments posted here. May you all have a happy and safe holiday.

Those that cannot appreciate sarcasm and the humor intended by my postings really crack me up! Make my day.

Merry Christmas to you all and God Bless America, Uncle Mil
