WEST U CRIME: Rash of Burglaries, Identity Theft, Fraud, Theft, Narcotics

01/18/2014
Theft
At 7:43 am, an officer was dispatched to a construction site in the 2900 block of University Blvd in reference to a theft that had already occurred. Upon the officer’s arrival, the complainant stated an unknown person(s) removed his mortar mixer from inside the secured gate of the construction site without his consent.

Possession of narcotics
An officer, was on uniform patrol in the area of 6500 Buffalo Speedway. While on patrol the officer saw a vehicle traveling south on Buffalo Speedway without a license plate light as required by law for the time of day. The vehicle was stopped and upon further investigation the officer located marijuana. The driver was arrested for possession of marijuana and booked into the West University Place jail.

Minor Accident / Failure to stop & give information
An officer was dispatched to the 3800 block of Rice for a minor accident / failure to stop and give information. Upon arrival the officer spoke to the complainant who stated that an unknown person(s) struck her vehicle and left the scene without providing any type of information.

01/20/2014
Traffic Violations
An officer observed a vehicle traveling southbound with expired registration in the 6500 block of Buffalo Speedway. The officer initiated a traffic stop and upon further investigation discovered that the operator was in possession of a fake inspection sticker. The operator was arrested and charged with fictitious/altered inspection sticker.

Minor Accident / Failure to stop & give information
At 12:20pm, an officer was dispatched to the 2600 block of Wroxton in regards to an accident that occurred sometime over the night. The victim stated he parked his car on the street at 1:00 am. When he was leaving at 9:00 am, the victim noticed damage to his vehicle. The officer generated a police report for failure to stop and give information and this case is still under investigation.

Burglary of motor vehicle
At 2:20 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the 4200 block of Bellaire in regard to a burglary of a motor vehicle that already occurred. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the victim who stated between 1:30p.m. and 2:20 p.m. an unknown suspect(s) forced entry into the vehicle removing items without consent.

Driving while license suspended
An officer observed a vehicle traveling northbound with expired inspection in the 5900 block of Weslayan. The officer initiated a traffic stop in the 3900 block of Law St. on the vehicle. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the driver was driving on a suspended license. The driver was arrested and charged with the offense of driving while license invalid.

Fraud
At 12:42 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the 3000 block of Sunset in regard to fraudulent activity. Upon arrival, the officer met with the victim who stated that an unknown suspect(s) stole her credit card and made fraudulent purchases without consent. Information was gathered and a report was generated.

Driving while license suspended
An officer observed a large box truck traveling southbound with expired registration in the 6200 block of Buffalo Speedway. The officer initiated a traffic stop on the large box truck. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the driver was driving on a suspended license and that the large box truck was currently uninsured. The driver was arrested and charged with the offense of driving while license invalid.

Burglary of vehicle
At about 6:10 p.m. an officer was dispatched to the 4100 block of Bellaire Blvd for a report of a burglary of a motor vehicle that had already occurred. The officer arrived on-scene and met with the victim, who stated that at sometime between the hours of 1:40 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. an unknown person(s) broke into their vehicle and took items out without their effective consent.

Burglary of motor vehicle
Officers conducted an investigation into a burglary of a motor vehicle that occurred in the 5300 block of Mercer Street. It was reported that between the times 6:00pm and 7:00pm the victim’s vehicle was burglarized. Several items were missing from the vehicle.

Burglary of motor vehicle
At 7:26 p.m. an officer was dispatched to the 3600 block of Rice Blvd for a report of a burglary of a motor vehicle that already occurred. The officer arrived on-scene and met with the victim, who stated that at sometime between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. an unknown person(s) broke into their vehicle and items took without their effective consent.

01/22/2014
Burglary of habitation
Officer were dispatched to the 3700 block of Tangley in regard to an in progress burglary of a habitation. The reportee advised that he was awaken by intruders inside his residence. The victim had heard noise inside his home and encountered two subjects on the second floor of his residence. Upon confrontation the suspects ran from the house in an unknown direction. No items were reported to be missing.

Possession of Narcotics
At 7:56 am, an officer observed a maroon four door passenger vehicle traveling northbound in the 6500 block of Buffalo Speedway with an expired motor vehicle inspection certificate, 12/13. A traffic stop was conducted in the 6400 block of Buffalo Speedway and after further investigation; the driver was arrested for the offense of possession of marijuana.

Identity Theft
At 8:49 pm, an officer met with a complainant, at the West University Police department, in regards to an identity theft that already occurred. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that an unknown person(s) obtained and used the complainant’s social security number to open a Verizon Wireless account, without permission.

Warrant Arrest
Officer was dispatched to the Houston Police Department Southeast Jail located at 8300 Mykawa Rd to pick up a prisoner in custody with West University Place Municipal warrants. The officer took custody of the suspect and transported him back to the West University Place Police Department jail where he was booked without incident.

01/23/2014
Criminal Mischief
An officer was dispatched to the 6300 block of Mercer in reference to a criminal mischief that already occurred. Upon arrival the officer met with the victim, who stated that the driver side window seal had sustained damage and the window had been smashed sometime between 5pm the night before and 7am. The victim stated nothing was missing or had been disturbed within the vehicle.

01/24/2014
Warrant Arrest
At 1:34 am, an officer met with a Bellaire Police Department Officer, in the 4100 block of Bellaire, who had a subject detained with warrants out of the City of West University Place. The subject was taken into custody, transported, and booked at the West University Place jail, on those warrants, without incident.
