Crime Report: Stealthy Biker Turns Out to be Thief

Theft

At 2:50 A.M., officers were dispatched to the area of 6600 Mercer in reference to a suspicious person on a bicycle. A male suspect was located riding a bicycle without a light on the front, as required by law. The suspect was stopped for the offense and arrested. The suspect was transported to the West University Place Jail where he was booked in for the offense. It was later learned that the suspect had stolen property from a vehicle and he was charged with theft.

Burglary of Motor Vehicle

At 8:30 P.M., an officer was dispatched to WUPD to meet with a citizen who was reporting that an unknown suspect removed property from her open vehicle trunk, while parked in her driveway in the 3800 block of Coleridge, without her effective consent.

Warrant Arrest

At 9:30 P.M., an officer was dispatched to 750 Gulf Gate Center Mall, to meet with a City of South Houston officer and take custody of a subject with outstanding warrants out of the City of West University Place. The subject was transported to the West University Place jail and booked on those warrants.

Driving While License Invalid

At 4:00 A.M., an officer was on patrol in the area of 6100 Buffalo Speedway. The officer located a vehicle with a defective tail lamp. The vehicle was stopped for the offense. The driver of the vehicle was found to be driving while license invalid. The male driver was arrested for the offense.

Driving While License Invalid

At 2:57 P.M., an officer observed a vehicle traveling northbound in the 6600 block of Community Drive that displayed defective equipment. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle for the violation. Upon investigation, it was discovered the driver of the vehicle did not have proof of financial responsibility or a valid driver’s license. The driver was arrested and charged with Driving While License Invalid.

Information Report

At 3:31 P.M., a police officer was dispatched to the 3700 block of Rice, in reference to property that was delivered to a residence that didn’t belong to them, or to anyone else at the residence. The police officer took the property and entered it into evidence for safekeeping.

At 12:00 P.M., an officer was dispatched to the 3800 block of University in regards to a complaint of suspicious paper with handwritten notes left in the complainant’s driveway.

Traffic Violations

At 2:03 pm, a police officer observed a vehicle traveling northbound in the 6000 block of Buffalo Speedway at the speed of 52 miles per hour in a 30 miles per hour zone. The police officer stopped the vehicle and it was discovered the driver did not have a driver’s license and failed to maintain financial responsibility. The driver also had several outstanding warrants with several different law enforcement agencies. The driver was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license and failing to maintain financial responsibility.
