West U Softball: Rapids Win Houston ASA Metro All Star Championship
Father’s Day was celebrated in high fashion for the WUSA 12U Rapids dads as the team took top honors at the 12U Houston ASA Metro All Star Championship Tournament at Burroughs Park, June 15-17, in Tomball.
The Rapids went undefeated in six games played over three days. The tournament was interrupted on Saturday with thunderstorms that drenched the players, fans, and fields. Games resumed on Sunday morning with a shortened bracket, making the winner of the winners’ bracket- the tournament champion.

By winning this tournament, the Rapids qualified for the ASA Southern Nationals Championship Tournament in Lawton, Oklahoma in August. However, due to the players’ camp and vacation schedules, the Rapids will finish their summer season with tournaments in spring and Spledora during the last two weekends in June.
WUSA, one of the state’s largest girls youth softball associations, began in 1979 and has grown to involve more than 500 girls from ages 5 to 14. WUSA is an all volunteer Association including a board of directors and woman’s auxiliary.
