The West U. Rotary will donate proceeds from their 4th of July barbeque to help fund the trip. The barbeque will be held from 10 a.m.- 2p.m. at Colonial Park, 4130 Byron, and the cost is $5 per person.
Players representing all of WULL and District 16 are: Jonathan Cerda, Chandler Chmaitelli, Anthony Croft, Carl Croft, David Cureau, Lauren Deroschers, Michael Freysinger, Brian Hale, Riley Hankins, Kamal Lanig-Wade, Luke McLendon, Eric Murdock, Allison Rosenberg, Karl Singleton and Zachary Smith.
To help the team get to Williamsport, one buddy, Max Bastian, donated a percentage of his allowance and birthday money then others followed suit. Jake Lapin had checks sent to Challenger instead of gifts for his birthday. A group of children on Plumb Street had a lemonade stand and collected spare change. Families and friends sent donations to support the outreach program. Bridgeway and Northstar stepped up to the plate with major donations and other area businesses, medical groups, and churches assisted, as well. Almost 50 of the WULL teams made donations in honor of their coaches in lieu of season end gifts. Continental Airlines donated tickets to be used in a raffle at the annual auction. Mission Burrito held its grand opening on Memorial Day with all proceeds benefiting Challenger. There is also a spare change box in the concession stand where those wishing to can donate.
