West U Police broke up a Memorial Day street fight on Marlowe St. and charged three suspects with disorderly conduct and public intoxication. One of the suspects was charged, but his parents transported him to an emergency room for treatment.

West U officers also investigated the burglary of a motor vehicle on Wednesday, which occurred in the 2600 block of Bissonnet. Officers discovered that items had been taken from the victim’s vehicle.

Officers also dealt with several traffic-related offenses, including the arrest Thursday of three suspects who were traveling in a vehicle that had been reported stolen to the Houston Police Department. An officer observed the “suspicious vehicle” in the 3400 block of Bissonnet and placed the three suspects in custody. However, the Harris County District Attorney’s Office declined to charge any of the suspects with an offense and they were ultimately released.

On Friday, May 22, a West U officer was listening to the Southside Place Police Department’s radio channel and heard that one of their officers had stopped a driver with an outstanding warrant from West U. The suspect was placed in custody.

At 9:24 p.m. on May 23, a  West University police officer observed a vehicle go through a stop sign without yielding or stopping in the 2900 block of Plumb. The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop and a vehicle pursuit ensued. The officer then lost sight of the vehicle at Willow Bend and Stella Link.

On Sunday, May 24, a West University police officer observed a vehicle traveling in the 6300 block of Buffalo Speedway with its rear license plate lamps out. The officer initiated a traffic stop in the 6500 block of Buffalo Speedway. The driver was found to be in possession of marijuana and arrested.

West U police arrested two drivers in the 6700 block of Buffalo Speedway on Thursday.

At 12:01 a.m., a West University Police Officer observed a vehicle traveling southbound in the 6700 Block of Buffalo Speedway with its license plate obstructed. The officer initiated a traffic stop in the 6800 Block of Buffalo Speedway and it was discovered that the driver was Driving While License Invalid.

Also on Thursday, a West U officer noticed a vehicle with an expired motor vehicle registration traveling northbound in the 6700 block of Buffalo Speedway. The officer initiated a traffic stop in the 3100 block of Pittsburg. The driver was arrested for the offense of expired motor vehicle registration, failure to maintain financial responsibility, and for multiple outstanding warrants.

A West U resident walking in the 3700 block of University and Edloe found an abandoned child’s bicycle on Thursday evening. The resident collected the bicycle and brought it to the West University Place Police Department. The bicycle has been placed it in the West University Place sally port for safekeeping.
