Woman Finds Burglar In Her Living Room
A woman called police on Jan. 3 after she entered her living room and found a person she didn’t know who had come in through the unlocked back door.
The burglar left the house in the 2600 block of Cason Street, but then the woman discovered that a purse was missing. West University Place police searched the area but couldn’t find the suspect.
Two other home burglaries happened during the week of Jan. 3 to 11.
- On Jan. 8, officers arrived in the 3900 block of Northwestern Street because a resident reported that someone stole items after entering a back window of the home.
- On Jan. 9, officers responded to the 6300 block of Community Drive because there was a home with its door open. Police found that someone had broken a window, and the resident said that items were missing from the home.
A man reported to police on Jan. 8 that someone opened his unlocked vehicle in the 5300 block of Kirby Drive and stole his laptop.
On Jan. 7, a woman visited the West U. police station to report she was the victim of a hit-and-run traffic accident. She said that someone backed into her front bumper in the parking lot of Whole Foods on Bellaire Boulevard. The car then fled the scene.
West U. police took custody of two people last week because they had outstanding warrants.
- On Jan. 3, an officer stopped a vehicle because it was driving with its high beams on. The driver had four warrants in Southside Place, and the officer took the woman to the West U. Jail and made arrangements to transfer her to Southside Place.
- On Jan. 8, a West U. officer met with Lakeview police to pick up a suspect with four outstanding West U. warrants. The officer booked the person into the West U. jail.
