West U to host 24th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony
The West U Parks and Recreation Department will host its 24th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Monday, Dec. 3.
The event will be held outside of the Community Building, 6104 Auden Street at 5:30 p.m.
The evening will kick off with hot drinks and sweets for residents and their kids. A cookie decorating station and a craft table will also be set up.
West U firefighters and police offers will be greeting residents and kids can check out their vehicles and equipment.
The West U Baptist Church will provide kids with a chance to play in the snow and Santa’s reindeer will be grazing in the courtyard of the community building.
At 6:30 p.m., the city will commence its Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, which includes performances by St. Andrews Presbyterian Church and West U Baptist Church choirs and West U Rec. Center children’s programs.
Once the Christmas tree is lit, Santa will make an appearance on a West U fire truck before listening to children’s wishes. Parents are encouraged to bring their cameras.
Auden Street will be closed from Amherst to Rice starting at 3:30 p.m. and will reopen at 9 p.m. Milton Street will be open for parking but will not be open to enter through to Auden.
