West U to hold Parade of Champions

The Tri-Sports Association and the city of West University Place will host a parade for the Hometown Heroes, the World Champion West U Little League Seniors.
The parade, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, August 28, will honor the team of 15- and 16-year old players who won the Senior Division Little League World Series in Bangor, Maine.

The parade will be held on University Blvd., between Auden and Rutgers. Residents are invited to come out and cheer for the World Champions.
The 2014 senior team is the second team to win the Senior Division World Series, held annually. Another West U team won the championship in 2009. Teams from West U also participated as Southwest Regional Champs, in the 2010 and 2011 Senior World Series.
This year’s team members are: William James, Carson Maxwell, Jacob Millender, Michael Streitmann, Jimmy Winston, Mitchell Black, Jared Burch, Harrison Burks, Cameron Cash,
Aaron Cranfield, Julian Cranfield, John Doxakis, Turner Gauntt, Joe Gobillot, Andrew Hoffman and Owen Holt. The team manager was Clint Sauls, with assistant coaches Cape Bell and Parker Duffie.
