West U Residents Encouraged to Wear Orange for ‘Go Dynamo Day’
Harris County Judge Ed Emmett has proclaimed Friday, Nov. 30, as “Go Dynamo Day” throughout West U and Harris County in recognition of the Dynamo’s quest for a third MLS Cup this weekend.
Emmett is encouraging all residents to wear Dynamo gear or Dynamo orange clothing throughout the day on Friday as a show of support for one of the area’s most successful sports franchises.
The Dynamo take on the L.A. Galaxy on Saturday afternoon in Carson, Calif., for the MLS Cup – Major League Soccer’s championship.
“Harris County residents have seen some tremendous soccer since the Dynamo moved here from San Jose in 2006,” Emmett said. “But now we’re on our way to another milestone – the christening of the downtown BBVA Compass Stadium’s first year with the team’s third MLS Cup.”
“We are very proud to be representing Harris County in the MLS Cup Final on Saturday,” Dynamo President Chris Canetti said. “We have received great support from the community and hope to return the favor by bringing home the Cup. I look forward to seeing the entire county decked out in orange on Friday in preparation for the big game.”
The Dynamo have won two MLS Cup championships and four conference championships in the team’s first six seasons and qualified to represent the United States in international competition six times, including in the 2013-14 CONCACAF Champions League.
