West U Rec. Center Pool Back Up and Running
The West U Recreation Center pool is back up and running as of 5 a.m. this morning after being closed for several days.
The pool closed on Monday evening after staff discovered that the impeller, a device that circulates the water in the pool, had failed.
The water was unsafe for swimmers because it was not circulating and was not being treated with chemicals, Parks and Recreation Director Tim O’Connor said.
The city received a replacement part on Thursday morning as well as a backup part in case this failure happens in the future, he said.
“It’s really unfortunate that this happened,” O’Connor said. “It was completely unforeseen.”
It is unknown at this time what caused the failure and whether or not it is covered by warranty, he said.
