West U Principal Alerts Parents About Recent Car Burglary

October 4, 2012

West University Elementary School Principal John Threet is alerting parents about a car burglary that occurred after school on Wednesday.

In a letter sent to parents today, Threet said that a purse was stolen from a vehicle parked in front of Little Matt’s on Edloe. A West U mother left her daughter in their family vehicle and ran inside to get her older son when a black male came over to the car, opened the door, and took the purse off the seat, he said.

Nothing else happened and the mother reported the incident to West U Police, he said.

Threet’s letter, unedited and in its entirety, is as follows:

“Wednesday after school, one of our 3rd grade students was in her family car across the street from school in front of Little Matt’s on Edloe.  Her mom ran in to get the older brother and left her daughter in the car reading a book.  A black male came over to the car, opened the car door, and took the mom’s purse off the seat.  Luckily he didn’t do something else.  The mom did report this to the police and the student did give a description of the man to the WUPD.

“Parents, please be watchful and careful.  Report any suspicious activity to the West University Place Police at 713-668-0330 or the City of Southside Place Police at 713-668-2341.  In an emergency, please dial 9-1-1 to request police assistance.

“Please let the school office know if something like this happens, and I will also notify the Houston ISD Police Department.  It is imperative that we all watch out for each other.

“Sincerely,

“John T. Threet
“Principal”
