West U police surveillance nabs car burglars
At 10:11 pm on September 15, 2015, a WUPD officer used an unmarked vehicle to conduct an undercover operation at a local business in the 2600 block of Bissonnet. While conducting surveillance, the officer observed a vehicle, with two subjects, pull into the parking lot of the business. One of the subjects exited the vehicle and started looking into windows of parked vehicles. After a few minutes of looking into windows, the subject became startled as more vehicles entered the parking lot. The subject got back into the vehicle that he arrived in, and the vehicle began to leave the parking lot.
After leaving, the vehicle was later stopped by a marked police patrol unit. After further investigation, both subjects were arrested for possession of a criminal instrument with intent to commit a burglary of motor vehicle.
One suspect in this case has earlier arrests to include: drug possession, manufacturing/delivery of drugs, evading, assault, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, tampering with evidence, retaliation, burglary of habitation and assault bodily injury. The second suspect has earlier arrests that include: trespassing, evading, burglary of vehicle, driving with suspended license, tampering with evidence and engaging in organized criminal activity.
