West U Police Report
West U Police investigated the theft of an automobile, several motor vehicle burglaries, and one DWI last week in the city.
On Friday, December 19, residents reported that an unknown suspect removed the front and rear license plates from their vehicle which was parked in the driveway of their
residence in the 6400 block of Community.
West U police also responded on December 19 to a residence in the 3000 block of Rice, to investigate the possible burglary of a motor vehicle. Officers discovered that the vehicle’s center console and glove compartment had been rummaged through. They then discovered a second vehicle with the center console and glove compartment rummaged through and signs of an attempted auto theft. The offense occurred at an unknown time and may be related to the original call.
On Saturday, December 20, West U officers were sent to the 2800 block of W. Holcombe, at the intersection with Brompton, where they found a subject passed out in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. The vehicle doors were locked with the ignition running, and the vehicle
was in a parked position. Upon further investigation officers were able to wake the subject and put the subject in custody for driving while intoxicated.
On Sunday, December 21, officers and EMS units were dispatched to a medical emergency in the 3800 block of Marlowe, While firefighters were attending to the patient, police officers observed marijuana in plain view in the patient’s bedroom. The patient was transported to the hospital and officers collected the marijuana and completed a report.
On December 21, an officer was dispatched to the 2700 block of Centenary to respond to a theft report. The victim told the officer that an unknown person had removed a bicycle from a garage that was possibly left unsecured. The officer completed a report for burglary of a building.
On Monday, December 22, an officer went to the 6300 block of Rutgers to respond to the theft of a motor vehicle. The victim stated that as she was letting her housekeeper in
the front door, she noticed her vehicle was missing.
Also on December 22, an officer was sent to respond to the burglary of a vehicle that had just happened in the 4000 block of University Blvd. The victim parked his vehicle in a driveway shortly before 2:30 p.m., and within minutes, unknown persons smashed the driver’s side window and removed items.
Also on December 22, an officer was flagged down in the 6300 block of Westchester by a victim who reported that an unknown person or persons had broken off an emblem on a vehicle that had been parked on the street in front of the victim’s residence.
West U police also responded to the burglary of a motor vehicle in the 2800 block of Sunset on December 23. The victim flagged down an officer, who told police that an unknown person had entered his vehicle and removed coins from the cup holder.
