West U Police Report
West University Place Police on last Friday were called to the 5900 block of Wakeforest about a motor vehicle burglary. Officers discovered that the rear side passenger window of the vehicle had been smashed and merchandise had been removed.
On Saturday, West U officers noticed a vehicle in the 5300 block of Buffalo Speedway with expired registration. A traffic stop was conducted in the 2300 block of Albans, and an officer determined that both the driver and the passenger had outstanding warrants from the city of Houston. Both people were arrested and transferred into the custody of an officer from the Houston Police Department.
On December 7, a driver was arrested in the 2500 block of University for possession of marijuana, after a West U officer noticed the driver’s motor vehicle inspection sticker was expired.
At 3:25 p.m. on December 8, a west U police officer was dispatched to the 4100 block of Sunset when a neighbor noticed the front door of a residence was open. After further investigation, officers discovered that an unknown person had forced entry into the residence through the rear door. Officers gathered information from the victim and provided the victim with a case number.
A case of identity theft was reported on December 8 by a West U resident who went to the West U Police Department to make the complaint.
On December 9, a West U officer was dispatched to the 4200 block of Riley to meet with a resident who reported being a victim of fraud. The victim stated that he sent a personal check for a subscription renewal to a company that turned out to be fraudulent.
A driver was arrested in the 5800 block of Wakeforest on December 9, after an officer observed the vehicle had an expired motor vehicle registration sticker. The officer conducted a traffic stop, and discovered the driver had a suspended license.
At about 12:30 a.m. on December 9, a witness saw a suspect break into a bank in the 5300 block of Kirby. The witness saw the suspect smash a glass window at the front of the bank. West U officer arrived while the suspect was still inside the building, and took him into custody. The suspect sustained minor cuts on his hand from the broken window.
On December 10, West U police were dispatched to a residence in the 2600 block of Carolina Way for a report of burglary of a motor vehicle. Upon arrival the officer spoke to the complainant who stated that anunknown person(s) removed items such an ice
chest, an I phone 4 adapter and loose change from his and his wife’s vehicle. The incident occurred sometime after 7 p.m. December 9 and the morning of December 10. Both vehicles were left unsecured during the time of this incident.
On December 10, a West U officer was dispatched to the 3100 block of Carnegie about the theft of a motor vehicle. Upon the officer’s arrival, the victim stated she exited her residence to leave in her vehicle when she noticed it was missing.
On Thursday, December 11, an officer observed a subject placing a bright orange flyer on several residents’ doors in the 2700 block of Pittsburg. Due to The City of West
University Place’s ordinance against soliciting without the required permit,
the officer made contact with her and requested to see her permit to solicit in West U. University Place. After further investigation, the subject did not have a permit with the city to solicit, and gave the officer a fictitious name. The subject was arrested for failure to identify a fugitive from justice.
