West U Police Officer Injured at Fire
A West University Place police officer was hurt at the scene of a house fire in southwest Houston early Sunday.
The fire happened around 12:30am at a home on Law at Bissonnet. Firefighters quickly put out the blaze. No one was home at the time. They said it started in a heating unit in the wall of an upstairs bedroom. Police set up a roadblock at while firefighters were getting the flames under control.
According to authorities, an officer standing at the roadblock noticed a vehicle driving into the scene and over fire hoses. The officer ran to stop the vehicle and tripped over a hose, dislocating his shoulder. He was taken to the hospital in stable condition. The driver was ticketed.
