West U. Police Make Several Drug Arrests
West U. Police made an arrest for possession of marijuana around 12:30 a.m. May 31 in the 4000 block of Marquette. Police noticed a car parked in front of an unoccupied home for sale, and approached the occupant, who was then arrested after police found the drug.
Police arrested a man in the 2800 block of Cason around 4:09 a.m. June 1 for possession of narcotics with intent to deliver after discovering the suspect to be in possession of 17.7 grams of methamphetamine along with packaging material. The suspect also had warrants with the Houston Police Department.
Around 3:25 p.m. June 3, police saw a man that appeared to be smoking marijuana in the driver’s seat of a car parked in a parking lot in the 2600 block of Bissonnet. The officer noticed that the car was missing the front license plate, and pulled the driver over when he didn’t signal when he exited the parking lot. The driver was arrested for possession of marijuana after a small bag of the drug was found on the floor behind the driver’s seat.
Police noticed a car parked at a stop sign with the driver’s side door open around 2:54 a.m. May 31 in the 2600 block of Albans. When an officer approached the car, he saw a man slumped over. The man was arrested for public intoxication. Police made another public intoxication arrest around 9:36 p.m. June 6 in the 6100 block of Fordham, after a witness reported a man stumbling while walking.
Police arrested a driver for driving with a suspended license on May 31 after a registration check showed the car might not be insured. On June 3, a driver seen with an obscured front license plate and changing lanes without signaling in the 2600 block of University was pulled over in the 2600 block of Centenary was charged with having a fake inspection sticker.
Car burglaries were reported on June 2, June 4 and June 5 in the 4200 block of Emory, the 6400 block of Rutgers and the 2900 block of Wroxton. In two cases, cars were broken into; in one case baseball bats were stolen out of the bed of a truck.
Resident moving property out of their home prior to demolition reported a stolen laptop on June 2. The victim’s told police that at some point as they were emptying out the house, someone entered the residence and took the laptop from the bedroom.
A traffic stop for failing to signal for at least 100 feet before an intersection ended with two arrests June 3. Police pulled the car over around 2:57 a.m. in the 6200 block of Edloe, and discovered the driver had four outstanding warrants in West U. and two warrants with Harris County Precinct 1. A passenger was also arrested and charged with possession of stolen property after a stolen GPS was found in the car.
A found bicycle was reported June 3 in the 6300 block of Rutgers and taken to the police department.
A bicycle was reported stolen from a home in the 6300 block of Mercer. The bike was taken sometime during the day on June 3.
The window of a residence in the 5800 block of Auden was damaged by a BB on June 4.
Around 3:24 p.m. on June 5, a car in a parking lot in the 5500 block of Kirby was hit by another car whose driver did not stop to give information.
A resident in the 3400 block of University told police on June 5 that an unknown person used her credit card multiple times without her permission.
