West U. Police Make Several Arrests During Traffic Stops

A car traveling with no headlights eastbound on Bellaire Blvd. around 2:13 a.m. April 26 led West U. police on a short chase before pulling over in the 3800 block of Bellaire Blvd. The driver was arrested for evading arrest and possession of a controlled substance.

A driver pulled over for a defective taillight in the 4100 block of Bissonnet on April 27 was arrested for not having a driver’s license or insurance. A driver pulled over for speeding in the 6700 block of Buffalo Speedway on April 29 was arrested for driving without a license. On April 30, police ran the registration of a car in the 2600 block of Arbuckle, and found the registered driver had no insurance. The driver was pulled over and arrested for driving without a license or proof of insurance, as well as two warrants. Also on April 30, a driver with a brake light out on the right passenger side of the car was pulled over in the 4100 block of Bissonnet and arrested for driving with an invalid license. A driver suspected of soliciting was pulled over in the 3100 block of Georgetown on May 2, and police found the driver was soliciting without a permit and his driver’s license was suspended.

A resident of the 4100 block of Tennyson came to the police station on April 26 to report a bicycle stolen from his garage. The bike was stolen some time between April 18 and April 26.

A resident of the 3400 block of Amherst reported a car burglary on April 28. On May 2, a driver reported another car burglary in the 2900 block of Bissonnet. Nothing was missing from the car, but the driver’s side door lock was damaged.

Police responded to a report of suspicious activity that was later changed to criminal mischief after police viewed damage to the rear gate and garage door of a home in the 3000 block of Amherst on April 30.

Police made an arrest for public intoxication after a resident in the 2600 block of Talbot reported a disturbance in progress around 11:10 p.m. April 30. When police arrived, the resident and a witness told police the suspect as not allowed at the residence and was drunk.
