West U Police Have Busy Week

West U police were kept busy last week by three thefts, three motor vehicle burglaries and one residential burglary. The Police Department also picked up two suspects who had outstanding West U warrants from the Houston Police Department.
On August 29, a West U office was dispatched to the central jail of the Houston Police Department to pick up a prisoner who had outstanding warrants from West U.
Police also investigated a theft reported that day by a complainant who said the rear license plate had been stolen from his vehicle. The theft occurred sometime between 8 p.m. on August 28 and before 4:45 p.m. on August 29.
On August 30, a driver was arrested for the offense of driving while license invalid after an officer observed a vehicle stopped southbound at the red traffic signal in the 6200 block of
Buffalo Speedway with defective rear brake lights. A traffic stop was conducted in the 3200 block of Duke.
On August 30, a complainant went to the West U Police Department to report that his wrist watch had been missing for about six weeks.
On September 2, a West U police officer was was dispatched to the 5500 block of Kirby in regard to a burglary of a vehicle. Upon arrival, it was discovered that someone had shattered the passenger window of minivan that was parked in front of a business. No items were taken and no suspects were located.
Also on September 2, a West U woman contacted police about the theft of equipment in the 3100 block of Pittsburg. The woman was out was out walking near her residence and saw a man loading equipment on to a pickup truck. The complainant found the incident suspicious and reported the issue to police. The builder was located and a report was generated.
On September 3, West U police picked up a prisoner at the Houston Police Department’s southwest jail at 8300 Mykawa for two active arrest warrants from West U. The prisoner was transported to the West U jail.
A West U resident reported an incident of forgery to West U police on September 3. The complainant said that an unknown person had attempted to cash a fraudulent check which was under his company’s name at the Bank of Texas at 5500 Kirby. The complainant had received a phone call from the bank.
At 6:05 p.m., a West U police officer was dispatched to the 3700 block of Sunset for a report of a burglary of a motor vehicle. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that an unknown subject(s) entered the complainant’s driveway, which was secured by a gate,
on 8-29-2014, at 4:12 am. The suspect entered two vehicles, which were parked in the driveway, and removed items from the vehicles without consent.
West U police investigated another motor vehicle burglary on September 3, in the 5600 block of Kirby Dr. The officer arrived and met with the complainant who stated that an unknown suspect broke her passenger side window and removed personal property without her
effective consent. The officer collected evidence and generated a report.
On September 4, a West U police officer noticed a man walking in the 6400 block of WestPoint at 3:07 a.m. The officer stopped the man and discovered that he had a set of car keys in his possession. The man admitted that the keys were not his. After a search of
the surrounding area, the vehicle that the keys belonged to was located. The vehicle appeared to have been rummaged through. Contact was made with the owner
of the vehicle, who did not give the subject permission to have the keys. The owner of the vehicle did not wish to pursue criminal charges.
On September 4, an officer was dispatched to the 4100 block of Villanova in reference to a burglary of a habitation. The complainant advised that the suspects used the disguise
of a tree trimming service to distract and gain entry into the home.
At about 5 a.m. on September 5, an officer patrolling in the 3000 block of Jarrard observed three suspicious males unloading roofing materials. Upon further investigation it was determined the suspects were in the process of stealing the roofing materials. One suspect fled on foot. Two suspects were arrested and charged with theft.
