West U. Police Arrest Man With Immigration Warrant
A driver with an immigration warrant was arrested by West University Police on July 14 and held for U.S. Immigration and Customs agents. Levi Criollo was pulled over in the 6200 block of Buffalo Speedway around 6 a.m. after officers noticed his vehicle had only one headlight. Police discovered the immigration warrant while interviewing Criollo.
Drug paraphernalia was found in a car pulled over in the 4100 Bellaire Boulevard around 2:35 a.m. July 15. After conducting a traffic stop, officers received verbal consent to search the car. The driver, Andrew John Shafron, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, and the passenger was taken into custody for outstanding traffic warrants.
A man was arrested for possession of marijuana after pulling over a driver around 7 a.m. July 15 in the 3700 block of Goode Street. The driver was initially pulled over for expired registration and inspection stickers. While speaking with the driver, Jair Abniel Olivera, the officer noticed several signs of drug possession, and searched the car. The driver was arrested for possession of marijuana and a warrant out of another city.
In an effort to obtain a restraining order, a man reported telephone harassment to West U. police on July 15 after receiving 200 to 300 threatening text messages from a woman. The victim did not want to file criminal charges.
A West U. resident reported identity theft on July 15, after an unknown suspect made checks in the victim’s name. Police have no leads at this time.
A traffic stop in the 31oo block of Plumb around 10:35 p.m. July 15 lead to the arrest of the driver for possession of marijuana and possession of a fictitious license. The stop was initiated due to the car having no taillights. The driver told the officer he did not have a driver’s license, and was placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license. While taking inventory of the car, marijuana and a fake driver’s license were found.
A woman in the 4000 block of Tennyson reported to police that two United Parcel Services packages were stolen from her front porch sometime between 11:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. July 15. The officer took the report, and assigned a case number.
A bicycle was stolen from an unsecured garage in the 3800 block of Marquette sometime between July 14 and July 17.
A resident reported a television stolen from his home in the 3700 block of Tangley on July 17. Forced entry was made into the home.
Sunglasses were reported stolen from an unlocked car in the 3800 block of University Boulevard July 17. The victim filed a report. An additional burglary of a motor vehicle was reported in the 6000 block of Lake on July 18. The victim told police that between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on July 17, an unknown person entered her vehicle and rummaged through the glove compartment and the rear of the vehicle. There was no forced entry and nothing was stolen.
Around 2:35 a.m. July 19, officers noticed a car running with the lights on in the center of the roadway in the 4200 block of Byron. The driver appeared to be asleep at the wheel. The officer woke the man up, and arrested him for public intoxication. A search of the vehicle resulted in an additional charge of possession of marijuana.
