West U PD Wants Help Investigating Home Invasion

August 20, 2015

The West University Place Police Department is requesting assistance from West U residents who have video surveillance equipment that films the outside of their residence and/or covers the street, particularly in the area of an aggravated robbery and home invasion Wednesday in the 3900 block of Amherst.

The PD is requesting residents’ assistance in reviewing video surveillance between the hours of 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. An eyewitness stated they believed the vehicle used in this crime was a black minivan-style vehicle. The vehicle was occupied by as many as five individuals. Should any resident find anything suspicious in their surveillance footage, or if any resident  witnessed anything that might help with this investigation, please contact the West U Police Department at 713-668-0330.

The armed robbery/home invasion happened Wednesday at about noon. There were no injuries to the victims.

Four black men, including one dressed in U.S. Postal Service attire, forced their way into the home after one man knocked on the victim’s door at 11:50 a.m. with a small package. The first suspect stated an address and asked the victim to confirm it. As she tried to close the door, the suspect put his foot in the door. He and three other accomplices then forced their way into the residence.

At least three of the suspects were armed with guns.

The suspects “corralled the victims,” in the home while they searched it, according to West U Police. The suspects left with jewelry in a black vehicle, possibly a minivan, in an unknown direction.
