West U Offering Traditional Fourth Fun

The City of West University Place Parks and Recreation Department will host its annual Independence Day Bike Parade and Pool Party, on Saturday, July 4th.

Participants in the popular parade are encouraged to decorate their bicycles, tricycles, wagons and strollers before lining up in front of West U Elementary School at 8:45 a.m.

The Bike Parade begins promptly at 9 a.m. The parade’s traditional route is to head west on University, turn south on Academy, and then proceed west on Byron to Colonial Park Pool.

More Fourth festivities will continue from 9:15 a.m. to noon, with complimentary admission to the pool.There will be balloon artists, Captain USA, caricature artists and more fun activities. There also will be an opportunity to earn some extra cash during the exciting money dive. Everyone will need a camera for the annual “Dad’s Belly Flop” contest.

West U Rotary will hold their annual BBQ fundraiser benefiting the West U Little League Challenger Program. The event wraps up around noon, but enjoy a lazy afternoon at the pool as it will remain open until 6 p.m. For more information, please contact the Parks and Recreation Department at (713) 662-7420.
