West U Mayor Re-appointed to Regional Policy Board
Elected officials from the Houston-Galveston Area Council region met recently to choose West University Place Mayor Bob Fry to a second term on the Board of Directors.
The Houston-Galveston Area Council is the region-wide voluntary association of local governments in the 13-county Gulf Coast Planning region of Texas. Its service area is 12,500 square miles and contains more than 6 million people.
H-GAC’s mission is to serve as the instrument of local government cooperation, promoting the region’s orderly development and the safety and welfare of its citizens.
Also elected were City of Manvel Mayor Delores Martin to serve a third term representing Home Rule Cities. Martin, who has previously represented General Law Cities, has chaired the H-GAC board in the past. Alternates are Stafford City Councilman Cecil Willis and Bellaire City Councilman Pat McLaughlan. The 36-member H-GAC Board of Directors is composed of local elected officials from governing bodies across the 13-county Gulf Coast planning region. The board provides oversight and direction for H-GAC staff in carrying out the wide array of programs that ensure efficient and accountable use of local, state, and federal tax dollars to address regional problems and needs.
