West U Hosting Free Chronic Diseases Course in September
West U residents are invited to attend a free “Chronic Diseases” class at the West U Community Building in September.
The class will be held on Saturday, Sept. 7 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the West University Place Senior Center and Community Building, 6104 Auden.
The Harris County Area Agency on Aging and the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services are sponsoring the class, brought to you by the Council for Health Education and Development.

“Chronic Diseases” is a four-hour class facilitated by a pathologist and will include discussion and application of learned healthcare guidelines as well as providing an understanding of different chronic diseases (Parkinson’s, MS, COPD, heart disease and arthritis), associated and similar impairments, practice in remedial breathing strategies, balance training and an introduction to Tai Chi.
Fifty class attendees will receive a free copy of the book “HealthMinder-Personal Wellness Journal.”
Dress comfortably and wear sneakers or rubber-soled shoes. Snacks, juice and water will be provided, but participants may bring a sack lunch if they wish. Certificates will be issued upon completion of the course.
