West U Gas Prices Drop By More Than Two Cents, Now Average $3.22 Per Gallon
Average retail gasoline prices in West U have dropped 2.4 cents in the past week to an average of $3.22 per gallon as of yesterday.
This compares with the national average that has fallen 1.8 cents in the last week to $3.47 per gallon, according to gasoline price website HoustonGasPrices.com.
Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan said recent events in Libya have contributed to an already-volatile market.
“Surprisingly, the average price for a gallon of gasoline fell last week.”While volatility in prices is all but guaranteed, the direction in which prices travel is less clear, even after the death of Gadhafi,” DeHaan said. “Many Americans believe his death will mean a drop in oil prices – but I just don’t see it happening.”
Including the change in gas prices in West U during the past week, prices yesterday were 60.9 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and 2.5 cents per gallon lower than a month ago.
The national average has decreased 5.9 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 65.5 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.
