West U Drug Counselor Sentenced to 5 Years Probation for Sex Crime

August 6, 2012

A West U drug counselor who was arrested last July for having sex with an underage patient has been sentenced to five years of probation and fined $500.

Amanda Leann Kueht, a 28-year-old Houston resident, was sentenced on Aug. 3 to probation ending Aug. 2, 2017 for indecency with a child – exposure.

Kueht was found with a 16-year-old boy in the backseat of a car just after midnight on July 25, 2011 in the West University Church of Christ parking lot at 3407 Bissonnet Street.

Kueht and her patient, a Houston resident, were found partially dressed by a West U police officer.

InstantNewsWestU is not using the name of the suspect in order to maintain the privacy of the victim.

According to reports, Kueht said she had been having sex with the boy for about two weeks.

The 16-year-old reportedly told the officer that Kueht had sex with him in the parking lot of his apartment complex.

At the time of her arrest, Kueht was a managing counselor at Cornerstone Recovery, a substance abuse treatment facility for adolescents.

InstantNewsWestU made several attempts to contact Cornerstone Recovery about Kueht’s current employment, but the attempts were unsuccessful.

Kueht’s work bio was removed from the treatment center’s website soon after news organizations started reporting about her relationship with her patient.

Her bio had said that she ran West U meetings along with the Southside Intensive Out-Patient program, Girls’ Ground, 2nd Stage and Climbers and oversaw the satellite at Palmer Church.

“She is completely dedicated to helping adolescents and their families recover,” the bio said. “Over time it has become apparent that she has a passion and enthusiasm for the 12 steps and helping others, as well as her own spiritual and mental growth.”

According to Cornerstone’s website, a new counselor now runs the West U meetings.

Kueht was charged with sexual assault of a child 14-17 and was released from jail last July after posting a $30,000 bond.

The court issued a “no contact” order for Kueht and the victim last September.
