West U Doctor Charged with Child Pornography Free on Bail
A West U doctor who was arrested last week on child pornography charges has been released from jail after posting $100,000 in bonds.
Dr. Robert Kolimas was arrested at his home in the 4100 block of Dartmouth on May 30 after authorities found multiple sexually explicit images of children on his computer.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation, along with the Houston Police Department, investigated Kolimas and made the arrest.
Kolimas was charged with five counts of possession of child pornography. He was released from jail on June 3 after posting $100,000 in bonds.
Kolimas has lived at his home in West U since 1988. He is a neurologist at the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He has reportedly been put on leave.
The West U Police Department was asked to be present for the arrest, but city officials could not comment further on the investigation.
Kolimas is expected to be back in court on July 11.
