West U Crime Roundup: Burglaries, accidents, and warrants
The latest West University Place Police Department Weekly Crime Report reveals that five burglaries were reported between April 29 and May 6. It was the top reported crime during that week.
The first reported burglary was on April 29. That afternoon, an individual went to the West U PD Lobby to report that a theft had occurred. A theft report was generated.
A day later, an officer was dispatched to the 2600 block of Werlein in regards to a stolen bicycle from a detached garage building. A report was generated for the theft.
On May 1, an officer was dispatched to the 5300 block of Kirby in regards to a commercial burglary alarm. After an investigation it was determined suspects entered the building but did not take any items.
On May 4, a different type of theft occurred. A victim went to the West U PD Lobby to report a forgery. A forgery report was generated.
The last reported crime was on May 6. An officer was dispatched to the 2700 block of Tangley in regards to a burglary alarm. Information and evidence were collected and a report was generated.
Two minor accidents and disorderly conduct were reported.
PreviewOn April 29, an officer observed a suspicious male in the alley way of the 2900 block of Bissonnet. The male later admitted to urinating in the bushes. The male was arrested and transported to the West University Place Police Department.
A minor accident was reported on April 30. An officer was dispatched to the 4000 block of Bellaire Boulevard in regards to a report of a minor accident having occurred. A report for the accident as well as a criminal report for failure to stop and give information was generated.
The second minor accident was reported on May 5. A victim went to the West U PD Lobby to report that an unknown driver had struck her vehicle and did not leave any contact information. A report was subsequently generated.
Below are the rest of the crimes reported.
On April 30, an officer observed a stationary vehicle in the 5800 block of Buffalo Speedway. A male was found asleep in the driver’s seat with the vehicle running. Further investigation revealed the man to be operating the vehicle while intoxicated. The subject was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated without incident.
Found property was reported on May 3. The reportee stated to officers at the West U PD Lobby that she found a set of three keys in the 3500 block of Sunset. The keys were kept for safekeeping.
On May 3 an officer observed a vehicle in the 6500 block of Buffalo Speedway traveling over the speed limit. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the driver did not have motor vehicle insurance. The driver was also found to have warrants. A hold was placed by the agency.
In the same day, an officer observed a vehicle traveling westbound in the 3200 block of Cason, fail to stop at a designated stopping points. A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle. Upon further investigation, the driver was arrested for Unlawful Carry of Weapon by a Felon. The driver also had two outstanding warrants with the Houston Police Department.
