West U Crime Report

A West University Place police officer was instrumental in the arrest of two men who were involved in an aggravated robbery Sunday morning in Houston. The officer saw a vehicle in the 3200 block of University Blvd. that matched the description of a vehicle that had been involved in the Houston robbery.  The officer initiated a felony stop, and it was discovered that the two occupants of the vehicle were involved in the robbery. They were arrested and released into the custody of the Houston Police Department.

West U police last week also investigated two theft cases, one report of identity theft and a case of criminal mischief.

On Saturday, an officer was dispatched to the 2700 block of Bissonnet in regards to a theft that already occurred. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the victim who stated that an unknown suspect(s) removed both side mirrors from his vehicle without consent. The victim stated the incident occurred within the last two or three weeks.

Also on Saturday, an officer met with a West U resident in the police department lobby about the theft of a package. The victim had been expecting a package and upon tracking the package discovered that it had been delivered a few weeks earlier. The incident was reported to the delivery company.

At 11:03 a.m. Monday, an officer was dispatched to the West University Place Police Department in reference to a case of identity theft. Upon the officer’s arrival, the victim stated an unknown person(s) used his personal identifying information to obtain a cash loan without his consent.

On Friday, May 15, an officer was dispatched to the 2900 block of Sunset, in regard to a case of criminal mischief.

At 1:08 p.m., on May 15an officer observed a vehicle in the 6200 block of Belmont with a defective brake light. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was arrested for driving with an invalid license.

On Sunday, an officer observed a “suspicious person” riding a bicycle without proper safety equipment in the 3200 block of Cason. The rider turned right on Buffalo Speedway, and the officer initiated a stop in the 3100 block of Carnegie. The rider was arrested for operating a bicycle without safety equipment, a Class C misdemeanor.
