West U Crime Report
On March 13, a West U Police Officer was dispatched to the 5600 block of Kirby to investigate the burglary of a motor vehicle. Upon the officer s arrival, the victim stated an unknown person(s) smashed the rear driver’s side window but didn’t remove anything. A criminal mischief report was generated, since nothing had been taken from the vehicle.
Later that day, an officer met with a West U resident at the police station about a case of credit card abuse. The victim advised that her bank had alerted her to several purchases that had been made on her credit card by an unknown persons in Culver City, California.
Another West U officer met with a resident at the police station in regard to a case of identity theft. The victim reported that an unknown person(s) used his information to file his 2014 federal income tax report in March of 2015, without his effective consent.
Also on March 13, a West U officer was dispatched to the 5900 block of West Loop South to meet with a Bellaire officer who had a suspect with an outstanding warrant with The City of West University Place. The officer took custody of the subject and transported him to the jail facility.
On March 14, an officer went to the 2800 block of Quenby in reference to a theft that had already occurred. Upon the officer arrival, the victim stated that an unknown person(s) removed jewelry from the residence without consent.
Officers responded to a suspicious circumstances call on March 14, in the 3600 block of Cason. The caller reported that two subjects had jumped a fence. Officers arrived and observed the suspect vehicle leaving the scene. The vehicle was stopped in the 6700 block of Edloe. Upon further investigation it was determined the driver was in possession of marijuana and he was charged and booked into the West U Jail.
On March 16, officers were dispatched to an unconscious subject in a vehicle in the 6600 block of Community. Officers arrived and found an intoxicated subject inside the vehicle. The subject was arrested for public intoxication and booked into The West U Jail.
Also on March 16, a West U officer observed a vehicle in the 3200 block of W. Holcombe not moving in traffic lane. Upon checking inside the the vehicle, the officer found a driver sleeping inside. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the driver was in possession of marijuana. The driver was arrested for the offense of Possession of Marijuana.
Officers were dispatched on March 16 to the 4000 block of Bellaire in reference to a theft that was in progress. Upon officer’s arrival, a store employee reported that a person walked out of the store, with merchandise but had not paid. The store employee recovered the stolen in the 4000 block of Ruskin in the middle of the street. The suspect was not located.
On March 17, West U officers met with a victim at the police station in regard to a forgery. An offense report for forgery was generated.
Also on March 17, a West U officer observed a vehicle in the 2800 block of Rice Blvd. with an expired registration. After a traffic stop, the driver was arrested for no driver’s license, no insurance and an expired registration.
On March 18, police were advised about a “suspicious storage container” in the 4200 block of Coleridge, hidden in bushes in the city easement. Upon arrival, the officers located the container and found five small green plants growing in five separate pots. The plants were determined to be marijuana.
On March 19, an officer patrolling in the 5400 block of Fairmont observed a suspicious bag in the roadway. After further investigation, the officer determined that the bag belonged to the owner of a vehicle legally parked northbound in the roadway. A burglary of a motor vehicle report was generated for the victim.
