West U Blast wins Houston ASA 10-year-olds city championship

July 17, 2012

The West University Blast, one of nine different tournament all-star teams formed from the West University Softball Association youth recreational league, recently won the Houston ASA Championship in the 10-and-under All-Star Division played at Collins Park in Spring.

The Blast went undefeated in the tournament outlasting all-star teams from all parts of the greater Houston metro area.

By winning the tournament, the Blast has qualified for the ASA 10-Under Fast Pitch Southern Regional Tournament in Dallas.

However, due to the players’ camp and vacation schedules, the Blast finished its last weekend of tournament play last weekend and will not be playing in the regionals.

The WUSA was formed in 1979 and is the largest youth recreational softball league in the Texas with over 500 girls ranging in age from five to 14.

WUSA is an all-volunteer organization consisting of over forty Board and Auxiliary members. You can find more information on the league at our website http://www.wusa.org.
