West U. Baptist Names New Senior Pastor; Pastor Barry Landrum to retire in May 2010
The Pastoral Evaluation Committee and deacon body of West U. Baptist and Crosspoint Church recently made a unanimous recommendation that Roger Patterson become the senior pastor upon Barry Landrum’s retirement in May of 2010. Following a 96 percent vote of approval by the membership, Patterson accepted the church’s invitation.
A year of transition is now underway as Landrum and Patterson lay the groundwork for the future direction of West U. Baptist and Crosspoint Church. The “4 Big Initiatives” include spiritual renewal, worship renewal, staffing for shepherding and retirement celebrations to honor the Landrums for their dedicated service to the church and community.
“I commend and congratulate Dr. Patterson, the Pastoral Evaluation Committee and the congregation for the calling of Roger to be the next senior pastor of the church,” said Landrum, senior pastor of West U. Baptist since 1996.
Patterson’s career at West U. Baptist began in 1997 as minister to students. He was named associate pastor in early 1999 and began rotating the preaching responsibilities between West U. Baptist and Crosspoint Church in 2005. Patterson is a published author, conference speaker and co-founder of Second Chair Leaders.
