West U Awarded for Excellence in Financial Reporting
The City of West U has been awarded with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association.
The city qualified for the award with its comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year that ended Dec. 31, 2010.
The honor is the highest form of recognition for governmental accounting and financial reporting. The city has received the award consecutively for the last 20 years.
“I am very proud to be able to continue the tradition set by the finance department over 20 years ago,” Finance Director Rhonda Daugherty said. “In the government accounting world, this is an honor.”
Mayor Bob Fry commended City Manager Michael Ross and Daugherty during Monday’s council meeting.
“I want to thank our finance department for consistently exceeding the minimum requirements in financial reporting and for their steadfast goal of transparency and full disclosure,” Ross said.
The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit association serving about 17,500 government finance professionals.
