West U Area Under Flash Flood Watch As Rain Chances Increase

September 7, 2010

As moisture and unstable air continues to track over the West U area as a result of Tropical Storm Hermine, much of the West U area has been placed under a flash flood watch.

The National Weather Service placed Harris County under the flash flood watch through Wednesday morning.

Todays forecast calls for showers and thunderstorms throughout the day. The chance of rain is 90 percent and 1 – 3 inches of rain is possible across the area.

The rain will continue through Wednesday.

The storms are the result of tropical moisture and unstable air being pushed across much of Texas as a result of Tropical Storm Hermine.

Hermine made landfall Sunday evening in extreme northern Mexico. Its remnants area expected to continue tracking north-northwest, brining rainfall to much of the state over the next few days.
