West U Area Again Under Heat Advisory, Expected Heat Index Of 110

August 10, 2010

Another day, another heat advisory for the West U area.

For the seventh day in a row, much of West U will be under a heat advisory, with temperatures at or near the century mark and a heat index of 110.

Officially, the heat advisory only covers Harris County, but the blistering heat will be felt throughout the West U area with an expected afternoon high of 99 under mostly sunny skies.

There is a 20 percent chance for a stray afternoon thundershower.

Another heat advisory is expected for Wednesday, with a predicted heat index of 105 and an afternoon high of 98.

The chances of rain increase on Thursday as a low pressure system moves through the Gulf of Mexico, pushing more moisture across the area.

Those venturing outdoors during the heat advisory are encouraged to drink plenty of water and wear lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing and a hat to shield themselves from the sun. Use sunscreen to reduce the possibility of sunburn.
