Weekend Soccer Camp Benefits Child Cancer Patients

December 9, 2009

West U. soccer players will learn new skills while benefiting cancer patients this weekend at a special soccer camp in Bellaire.

The Kick Cancer Soccer Camp offers boys and girls ages 7 to 18 the chance to work with college soccer coaches from Houston Baptist University, San Jacinto College and the University of St. Thomas. The coaches will focus on technique work and other topics while the players practice in a fast-paced, exciting environment.

Glenn Davis, a former professional soccer player who now hosts television and radio programs, will be involved in the camp. Davis has served as a play-by-play announcer for ESPN covering two World Cups.

The Houston Express Soccer Club’s camp takes place from Dec. 11 to 13 at Pin Oak Middle School’s sports fields in Bellaire. Each lessons lasts from 4 to 6:15 p.m. Proceeds from the soccer camp will support the pediatric cancer program at Texas Children’s Hospital. For more information visit www.westusoccer.org.
