Crime Report: Three Armed Men Rob West U Radio Shack

Burglary of a Building 

At 05:20 a.m., dispatch advised that a Rice University PD officer observed a subject inside the Subway restaurant (5404 Kirby), which was closed at the time. Officers responded to the scene and observed that a window had been knocked out. After several unsuccessful attempts to make contact with a key holder, an officer entered the building through the small broken window to clear it for possible suspects. The scene was processed and the case number assigned to the incident provided to the subway shift supervisor.



At 4:08 pm, an officer was dispatched to the 6700 block of S. Rice in Bellaire in reference to a subject with a warrant with the WUPD. The officer met with a Bellaire police officer and took custody of the subject without incident.


Identity Theft 

At 10:40 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the WUPD lobby in regards to identity theft. Upon arrival the officer spoke to the victim who stated that an unknown person used his social security number to file a tax return from the year 2011.



At 11:55 am, an officer was dispatched to the 4100 block of Lehigh in reference to a theft that had already occurred. The complainant stated an unknown person removed his exterior side mirror covers and power motors from his vehicle without his consent.



At 1:49 p.m., officers were dispatched to a robbery in progress at the Radio Shack located at 5804 Kirby. Upon officers arriving, the manager advised that the suspects had left the scene. Officers were unable to locate any suspects during the time of this investigation. A witness who was inside during the time of this incident informed officers that the suspects were three black males who were all wearing hoodies. The witness also stated that two black males were armed with handguns. No one was hurt during the time of this incident.
