Crime Report: West U Resident Finds Man in her Closet
Burglary of a Habitation
At 3:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 6700 block of Belmont in reference to a dispute in progress. Upon arrival, an officer made contact with the victim who stated she observed a black male inside her residence. The victim stated she left her residence on at 12:40 p.m. and returned at 2:30 p.m. The victim stated she was going to leave her residence again at 2:50 p.m. The victim proceeded to her closet and as she opened the door she observed the suspect inside the closet. The victim immediately left her residence and observed the male subject exit the residence behind her and fled southbound in the 6700 block of Belmont on foot. Moments later officers located a subject matching the description given by the victim. Officers made contact with the subject and it was later determined that the subject was the suspect involved in this incident. The suspect was then brought back to the scene where the victim was able identify the suspect. Jewelry was also found on the suspect’s person and was identified by the victim as her property. The officers then placed the suspect in custody for burglary of a habitation.
At 3:02 am, an officer was dispatched to the 1900 block of Old Spanish Trail to meet a University of Houston police officer with a subject with four West U warrants. The subject was taken into custody and transported to the West U Jail.
Burglary of a Motor Vehicle
At 6:32 am, an officer was dispatched to the 2700 block of Pemberton in reference to a burglary of a motor vehicle that had already occurred. After further investigation the officer discovered a broken driver’s side window and several items missing from inside the vehicle.
An officer was dispatched to a possible theft in progress in the 3000 block of Bissonnet. The reportee stated that an unknown black male had taken an air compressor from her neighbor’s property. A description of the person was obtained and his last known direction of travel. The suspect was located and the reportee was able to identify the person and the property taken. The owner later identified the item as her property. A report for theft was generated.
At 2:08 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a residence located in the 6600 block of Westchester for a report of criminal mischief. Upon arrival the officer spoke to the complainant who stated his son’s passenger side window was smashed while parked on the street. The complainant stated that no items were removed from the vehicle.
