Weather slams West U hard
About 4 inches of rain has deluged West U overnight, and another line of storms is expected to hit again late morning. The forecast doesn’t show rain moving out until around 6 or 7 p.m. Here was the status about 5 a.m.:
There are reports of severe street flooding throughout West U, with flooded cars and Poor Farm Ditch overflowing in places.
Water in Brays Bayou at Stella Link is rising. It was about 4 feet from the top at 4:30 a.m. There are reports in the Meyerland area of the bayou coming over the top. You can follow rainfall and bayou levels at www.harriscountyfws.org.
Check road conditions at www.HoustonTranstar.com/roadconditions if you must go out. As of 5 a.m., there were 25 high water locations inside the Loop, including flooding along the feeder roads to the 610 from Meyerland through Bellaire. The Katy Freeway near downtown, around Houston Street, is closed due to flooding.
The Komen Race for the Cure scheduled to start at 8 a.m. downtown has been canceled.
