Trucks, SUVs The Target For Recent Car Burglaries, PD Issues Statement To Residents
The West U. Police Department received “several” reports of burglaries of high-profile, late model pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles during the late night and early morning hours today.
InstantnewsWestU.com recently reported that nine car burglaries were reported between April 6 and April 10. The police department has issued a letter to residents asking for their help “in combating this type of crime,” along with advice, including asking residents not to park their cars on the street over night.

On Friday, April 17, 2009, the City of West University Police Department received several reports of automobile burglaries. These burglaries were reported to have occurred in the late night/early morning hours. The vehicles targeted were high profile, late model pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles. The West University Police Department would like the public’s help in combating this type of crime. If possible, do not park your vehicle on the street at night. If you have parking space in the garage area of your home, utilize it. If you must park on the street or leave your vehicle in your driveway, take all of your valuables from it (this includes purses, laptop computers, sports equipment, etc.).
