The Pirates of Penzance Set Sail For Dionysus Theatre
Dionysus Theatre presents The Pirates of Penzance at the Joe Frank Theatre inside the Jewish Community Center, 5601 S. Braeswood, from June 6 to June 28. The show, directed by Dionysus Theatre founder and Artistic Director Deborah Nowinski, offers an opportunity for audiences of all ages to come aboard. Musical director is Stephen W. Jones, who appeared in last year’s production of Seussical. Show days are Thursdays and Saturday evenings at 7:30 with Sunday matinees at 3 p.m. during the month of June. Tickets are adults – $20, seniors and students – $15 and children under 12 – $10, and are available by calling 713-728-0041 or by e-mail at email@example.com. Sunday matinee tickets are two for the price of one.
“We will have Best Buddies Day on Sunday, June 14 at 3 p.m., and asking that the audience get into the act by dressing in your best pirate outfit, right down to the eye patch and maybe even the parrot,” said Nowinski. The best dressed pirate team will win a special prize.
“We are excited about the history of Dionysus Theatre, and in particular, the presentation of The Pirates of Penzance. What a joy it will be to see the pirates come to life on stage and to have the audience join in the fun on June 14,” said Frank Shaw, president of Dionysus Theatre’s board of directors.
