The Houston Zoo Hosts Mid-Summer Adventure

July 28, 2010

The Houston Zoo is bringing back two popular special events on July 31 – The Elephant Open House and Donuts and Dinosaurs.

Elephant Open House

What does a 10,000 pound animal eat for breakfast?  How do you give an elephant a pedicure?

Meet the Houston Zoo’s elephants Methai, Tess, Tucker, Shanti, Baylor, and Thai and the Houston Zoo elephant care team on July 31 from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and learn about elephant diets, care, training, and more at the July Elephant Open House.

Tour the state-of-the-art elephant barn at the Houston Zoo’s McNair Asian Elephant Habitat.  Each elephant “bedroom” in the barn will highlight a different aspect of elephant care.  The Elephant Open House also includes a continental breakfast.

Have your picture taken with one of the Houston Zoo’s elephant herd for $25 per sitting.  Photos will be printed on-site, and make a great memento of your morning with the elephants.
